Because of the large amount of ferries and cruise ships visiting the populair island of Mykonos and the rather small old harbour, which makes is hard for larger ferries to dock, all cruise ships and some of the larger and faster ferries dock at Tourlos, a small village about a 30 minutes walk from the main village Mykonos town (or Chora as it is also called). It's a rather sleepy kind of place with not much to do. It has some hotels and a beach which is rather dirty because of all the passing ferries. Actually I think it has not really much going for it. Most of the people staying in Tourlos turn to other beaches for swimming, like the nearby Agios Stefanos, which is easy to get to. There are tavernas and there is a car rental in the village, so it could be an option for people that want to get away from all the energy of Mykonos Town and yet still want to stay close to it. If you book a hotel here with a swimming pool than that is fine. A taxi drive to Tourlos takes only about 5 minutes and costs close to nothing.
Established in 2004, the new 4-star Paradision Hotel is a petite and family-run hotel with unique charm and a homely atmosphere. It is located above the New Port at Tourlos Bay, only 100 metres from the sea and 600 metres from the nearest organised beach (Agios Stefanos Beach). Due to its location and environment, Paradision is ideal for those who are looking for a calming and cosy stay away from the bothersome noises of the city.
