The village of Lefkochori or Lefkohori on Crete

A little under Archanes and Kastelli, 36 km southeast of Heraklion lies the quiet and small agricultural village of Lefkochori, close to Kato Poulia. It is a traditional village without any tourists and it is surrounded by green.
In the village there is a fairly new very large white church with a bell tower and in all the streets there are grape vines and fruit trees with pears, pomegranates and oranges. The village is surrounded by fields with olive trees and a little north of Lekochori there is a large forest area.

In the vicinity of the village of Lefkochori there are a number of nice old churches. Between the village of Garipa (in the south) and Lefkochori you will find two, including the small church of Saint Catherine in the north of Garipa and the old church Metamorphosis of Christos a bit further down the road, and north of the village of Lefkochori there are a few more, amongst which is the Agios Georgios church, that has a terrace with a beautiful view over the surrounding area.
