In Atherinolakos in the southeast of Crete you find the power plant with its two red and white striped chimneys, that you can already see from a large distance. These chimneys are 125 meters high. In the vicinity are a few farms. In this area soil has been excavated (2011) to put down more buildings. The power plant was built in 2004 and is therefore relatively new. Next to the plant there is a sheltered bay where a harbour was made for fishing boats. Atherinolakos can be reached via an exit from the road that leads between the villages Agia Triada and Goudouras.
