The village of Pachia Ammos and Pachia Ammos Beach
20 Kilometer east of Agios Nikolaos on the main road lies the little coastal village of Pachia Ammos. Looking quite cosy and relaxed, it's a quiet resort with a variety of hotels and taverna's. It can get quite windy though, and this may be the reason that while I was there I saw so much garbage on the beach (mostly plastic bags and sheets, bottles). I see this happening a lot in Greece, when you're there out of high season. People just don't care). I wouldn't have jumped in myself if they had payed me. The water has a beautiful color here though.
Here and there I read that the beach and the village are situated in a well protected bay, and it has so little wind, but I have seldom seen it like that when I was there. Also I have never seen parasols and sun beds, which according to some websites can be found on the beach. Instead you can find shade under the tamarisk trees that are planted on the beach, or you can sit down and stare at the sea on one of the wooden benches that are placed along the boulevard. Take a look at the movie I made on the beach and judge for yourself. The atmosphere of the village was good though, and the people seemed friendly. In Pachia Ammos itself there are not many sights, but in the surroundings there are a couple of excavations like Vasiliki and Monastiraki.

The Aerides Caf is located along the beach of Pachia Ammos. They sell snacks and sandwiches, ice cream and crepes. The cappuccino is reasonable and you get a glass of cold water as well when they bring it. The club sandwich is good and cheap.
Our verdict: a 7,5 out of 10

This cosy taverna is situated at the beach of Pachia Amos and they serve different kinds of coffee, appetizers, spagetthi, omelettes, salads, grilled meat and fish, pizza's and several other dishes. The woman that runs the place has got a good sense of humor and she's very friendly. The cappuccino gets a thumbs up, with milk, like it should be. The tzaziki could have done with a bit more cucumber, the Greek salad is okay, with paprika, onions and olives, the cheese qroquettes are tasty and the bread is in one piece and it's fresh.
Our verdict: an 8 out of 10
