<Kera beach in between Kalives and Almyrida
In between the long sandy beaches of Kalives and Almyrida, in the beautiful area of the Apokoronas near the town of Chania, lies a small hidden secret called Kera Beach.
Unlike the beaches of Kalives and Almyrida there are no facilities here and also almost no visitors. The beach is narrow and at some parts it is a pebble beach. It is more or less divided into two parts. There is the part which is nearer to Almyrida which is more like a pebble beach. There is a small church standing in the fields and overlooking the beach and the Bay of Almyrida.
On the other side of a rock, that divides the beach into two there is another, more sandy (and better) beach, which is divided into sort of small parts of beaches where you can find some privacy.
A nice and maybe remarkable thing about Kera Beach are the carvings of faces and hearts that people have made into the soft stones that stand at the beach, some with dates on it going back more than a century. Kera Beach is definitely a good option for people that are looking for something more quiet than Almyrida Beach or Kalives Beach (especially in high season). Bring water and something to eat with you when you plan to spend the day at the beach here. In between Almirida and Kalives you can find several paths leading down to these two beaches.
