Kathiana is a quiet little village on the Akrotiri schieleiland. It is located just west of the airport of Chania (about two minutes). The distance to the city of Chania itself is 11 kilometers. Around the village are several beaches (Marathi, Stavros, Tersanas, Seitan Limania, Agios Onoufrios). The monasteries of Agia Triada, Gouvernetou and Katholiki are also not far. In Kathiana there are two churches. The large church dates from 1949 and older is situated a little further in the cemetery of the village. In the centre of the village there is a large square where the letter boxes of the inhabitants are. I didn't see any real landmarks in the village itself, but the pictures give a bit of an impression. I didn't spot a tavern or any amenities in Kathiana, but larger villages with those amenities are close by.
