The village of Episkopi on this page is located just off the highway (2 kilometers) around the middle of the stretch of road between Rethymnon and Georgioupoli. This traditional village contains many old stone houses and a big church that can already be seen from afar. There is a bit of traffic in Episkopi, mainly cars going to places in the neighbourhood (including a monastery, Lake Kournas the village of Argiroupoli), but this is only on one road and the rest of the village is very quiet. Many of the houses make an abandoned and dilapidated impression. Here and there you see a bird in a cage outside a house. There are more small churches, and there is a memorial in the village. The village of Episkopi lies in a fertile valley along with a number of other small villages. In the area there are many olive groves and it is very green. At the shore close to Episkopi there is a large beach which is 9 to 10 kilometers long and that begins (or ends) at Georgioupoli.
