Exo Lakonia is a small traditional village which lies about 8 kilometers away southwest of the larger city of Agios Nikolaos. The village is sometimes also simply called "Panagia". A little further on lies Mesa Lakonia. The village dates from the Byzantine period and there is a Byzantine church (the Church of the Archangel Michael). Nearby are remains from the Minoan period and the ancient city of Lato is not far away from the village. It is a beautiful green area with narrow asphalt roads where you can occasionally make a stop to enjoy the scenery.
