The village of Vori on the island of Crete

There are several villages that are called Vori on the island of Crete. The most famous can be found in the Messara plain not far from the Phaistos palace and the town of Mires.
The pictures of the village Vori on this page are from another village with the same name. It is located in the Lassithi district on the eastern side of Crete. The village of Vori can be reached via an exit along the Makrigialos - Lithines - Vori (exit) - Papagiannades - Sitia route.
The exit to Vori is on the left hand side of the road as you drive from the south to the north and it is indicated by a sign.

Vori is just a very small village. After a short and winding road you can park your car in a square just before the entrance of the village. Here is the village church with mosaics on the wall (in the north of the small village at the end of the only road) and there is a palm tree at the parking. The village itself is picturesque, sweet and very quiet. The houses are small and old and nicely painted and maintained. Plants and bushes are everywhere and you can see lots of flowers in pots in front of the houses. It makes the village very colourful and cosy.
