<The village of Kalamaki on the island of Crete
The village of Kalamaki is situated on the northwest coast of Crete a few kilometers west of Chania, between Chania and Agia Marina. There's a small church and a snackbar on a pier, and a view of the island of Agii Theodori. It's also a mooring place for yachts. There are some accommodations, 10 or so restaurants to choose from and a small beach. At the further end of the village there's a larger organized beach where you can also rent parasols and sunbeds. This beach is a sandy beach which is 2,5 kilometers long. The water of the sea in Kalamaki are clear and the beach is suitable for people with children. It's not too busy, also because of the beach being so long.
In Kalamaki there are a couple of tavernas and kafenions, a few shops and a bakery.
It can be an option for people that are looking for an accommodation not directly in Chania Town but who do want to be close to it. Here you are at the beach but not really far away. There is a regular bus service from this coastal village to Chania.
